Recipe for Paint Finish
This is just for my reference. Feel free to use the recipe. I got it from the HGTV web site.
To mix paint and joint compound:
Use large container of joint compound (I think it's 5-gallons)
Add 1/2 cup of latex paint
Add 1 tablespoon of craft paint
My husband told me I couldn't mix it up like this because it would make the joint compound too wet and slippery. Sorry, honey, but I saw it on TV and I've loved it ever since. I amd going to do it like this because buying 1/2 cup or a full cup of paint is way cheaper than buying a gallon to paint over the joint compound. And who wants to apply joint compound in one step...let it dry for days, then come back and paint? Not me...I'm taking the easy way.

Nicky, slowly but surely it's coming along. Sorry I only got one room painted yesterday but tomorrow I'll get the other one. I'm actually looking forward to paintint the woodwork. If Shepard wasn't such a good little boy I wouldn't have gotten this much done. Love ya, Your Mom-in-law
Mom, when you're done at their house, hows about ya drop by my house for a few days, hang with my kids, and finish my bathroom wall, paint my office, and paint my bedroom? It's not like you will be tired or anyhting. haha
Nicky, I don't blame you one single bit about the tinted compound! There just comes a point when you don't want to add one more step to the job! I know how that feels!
Next week I am much more free, so I'll get out there and help a lot more.
Thanks to you both. You guys have been such a blessing! I feel terrible that you guys did so much scraping downstairs without my help. Thanks for tackling the kitchen! Brenda, the LR looks really good! I'm not as in love with the color as I was at first, but I know it will look better with the brownish color over it. Thanks for all your hard work! :)
Amy - Get with your mom to find out the plan for next week, because I don't have a clue. Jason wants me off next Friday. I'm starting to lose track of how many vacation days I've used. You have to check out the tiles in the bathroom...I'm so proud of myself on that one. Hopefully if I get to work for awhile on Saturday I can get the kitchen walls finished. Have you picked out a color for my bedroom yet? Seriously, (I'm not joking) I don't want purple. I'll e-mail you a pic of our headboard/bedding. I'm trying to figure out if I should just let you go with it or if I should approve it first...I don't know...just have fun with it. Love ya!
